Breast Cancer Fundraiser- CFHS Student Council

See where your donations are going at the Cannon Falls Medical Center! This year instead of the Pink Ribbon Walk we will be having a carnival as a breast cancer fundraiser. There will be games, food, music and a drawing for large prizes! The fundraiser will take place on Mother's Day, May 11th from 1-4pm at Hannah's Bend (across from the City Pool in the lower park area). Student Council hopes to get the entire community involved in this fundraiser. We would like to get families, businesses and students involved in raising money for this great cause! All donations will go directly to the Cannon Falls Medical Center, a non-profit organization, and will strictly be used for breast cancer funding (none will be used for the carnival or for student council). All donations will be recognized on a large display at the event and on backs of t-shirts being sold at the carnival. If you would like to donate and be on the t-shirts and display, please contact Student Council by Saturday, April 25th. Checks can be made out to the Cannon Falls Medical Center. We would love for organizations to have a "booth" or an activity they could run! If you or your business would like to be recognized for your participation by having a name written on the backs of t-shirts and a display at the event, please contact Morgan Sesker by Saturday, April 25th. To organize a game or event, please let Student Council know what game or activity you are interested in (so no one doubles up). We are open to many ideas and have come up with some that you are welcome to choose from or branch off from. Here is a list of ideas we have come with: * Purchase an item from Cannon Equipment * Croquet * Ultimate frisbee * Guess the number of items in the jar * Basketball shot * Football throw * Face painting * Colored hair spray * Tattoos * Finger painting * Cookie/cake walk * Bean bag toss * Rodeo golf * Water balloon toss (If the weather cooperates) If you would like to sponsor an activity such as the moon bounce from Cannon Rental but cannot be present at the event, contact us and we will gladly work the station for you! If you would like Student Council to pick up the certificate or item please let us know! The week before this event we will be sending out change collector cans, business cards and small display signs to local businesses advertising the fundraiser. The cans will be small and decorated with a pink ribbon and will be a simple way for people to donate if they cannot participate in the event on Mother's Day. The business cards will have contact information on them. Advertisement in businesses would be a huge help for this fundraiser! How donations will be used by the Cannon Falls Medical Center Cannon Falls Medical Center, Radiology / Cardiology Department is currently upgrading the technology we are using in Mammography. For years mammograms have been recorded onto a type of photographic film. Those film then have to be processed in a darkroom.
Cannon Falls Medical Center is converting to digital mammography. The mammograms will be recorded as computer images. The quality and detail is much more superb and diagnosis is vastly improved.
When necessary, we will be able to transmit the digital, (computer), images to specialists at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, within seconds.
In order for physicians to be able to compare each patient’s current mammogram to the one they had done last year, the old film copies will need to be converted to digital, (computer), images. This requires a machine called a high-resolution digitizer. The ability to compare to last years exam is a crucial part of the diagnosis the physicians are making.
CFMC will have to purchase a digitizer soon. This machine will be put into immediate use, converting the films we have on file, to a digital, (computer), image. Women having their mammograms done at CFMC will benefit from a high quality diagnostic study. *If you have any question about this project you are welcome to contact the Cannon Falls Medical Center at 263-4221.
