On May 6th, thirteen new members were inducted into the Cannon Falls High School chapter of Minnesota Honor Society. 🌟 Melissa Huseth, science teacher and Varsity Volleyball coach, gave an inspiring speech about being more than a name on a membership list, doing the right thing even when it is hard, and being a role model for CF students. Kindergartners recently had a visit from Amanda, a 4-H educator. Each student got to make their own spring cloud dough, which is like a homemade play dough. Talk about a multi-sensory experience! 🖐️👀👃 #LearningInThe252

The book hunt is over! 👀📚 The elementary students recently finished their library book hunt that they started in February. Thirty students in grades K-5th discovered winning books while choosing books to borrow. Each winner had the chance to be the Guest Checkout Person for one day of Media class and took over running book checkout for their classmates. 🤩 #LearningInThe252

Our HS Anatomy students had a great hands-on learning experience this week! 🩺❤️‍🩹 A big thank you to our school licensed nurse, Carly Grems, for taking the time to teach students how to properly measure blood pressure. We are gearing up for School Lunch Hero Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Friday of May! 🍎🥗🥪 Established in 2013, this date is set aside to honor school nutrition professionals who prepare healthy meals for students. Sixth graders created pioneer towns in social studies class. 🧐📜✍️ They learned how to choose a good location, how to plot out their town and what businesses to try to promote. They also learned how important it was to have a railroad go through their town. 🚂 The students did a great job! #LearningInThe252

Science students in 7th and 8th grade took learning beyond the classroom this week by giving back to our environment! 🌎 ☀️🌱 In celebration of the 56th annual Earth Day, students spent time cleaning up our school grounds and school forest. Mrs. Miller’s 2nd, 4th and 5th grade classes took advantage of a beautiful day and moved their learning outside! ☀️🌱 To close out a unit on Growth Mindset, students took time in the hammock garden to reflect, identify good qualities about themselves, and build positive affirmations. We practiced mindfulness, enjoying the sunshine, listening to birds and the silence, and quality “me time” without electronics! 😉 Shout out to the CFES PTO for making the hammock garden a reality! 👏👏👏 #LearningInThe252
