A message from our School Superintendent regarding inclement weather and school closings/delays....
The school district does everything it can to make sure that school is on time and students arrive safely. However, when snow and ice enter the scene, we need to make decisions that affect our "normal" routine.
Coordination takes place between area districts, because of shared services, transportation supervisors and drivers from around the district and weather forecasts to make a safe and responsible decision.
In short, we get input from many sources around the area before making a final decision. All of this happens between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. If need be, a 2 hour late start will be called and then a decision will be made later whether or not to cancel the entire day. Safety will be at the forefront of any decision. Ideally, a decision will be made on any delay or cancellation prior to 5:45 a.m.
This is a difficult decision and one we take very seriously. Once again, we do this for the safety of the students.
